The
aim of the school is to provide a planned structure in which children
are able to explore, experiment, plan and make decisions for
themselves.
For
each child, the teachers design a programme of tuition, which is
carried out partly in a group and partly on an individual basis. The
progress of each child is monitored and records are kept in a
portfolio. A parent-teacher conference is held twice a year.
Cross-Curricular
activities
The
school day is enhanced with a variety of activities such as singing and music,
arts and crafts, baking, cooking and group games. In each term we integrate a
science week, an art week, a music week or a forest week. Field trips and day’s
outings are also part of our curriculum.
Hygiene
There is a children’s
bathroom with hand basin and toilets. We change pampers regularly and are
willing to assist when toilet training starts. We encourage children to wash
their hands regularly and to clean their teeth after lunch.
Meals
A
healthy snack is provided by the school. Full day children can book a
hot lunch or bring a packed lunch along.
Manners
The
children are encouraged to use table manners and to be polite to each
other and the staff. They learn to look after their belongings and to
clear away their things after snack and lunchtime. They are also involved
in the tidying up after an activity has finished.
Enrolment
Parents
are asked to make an appointment with the headteacher who will be
happy to meet them, preferably with their son and daughter, ideally
when the school is in action.
